LOW RESOLUTION. True story
May 24, 2024A Client’s Phone Call. [Your suggestion is urgently required!]
Today, I received an unexpected phone call from Joseph, one of our clients, whom I became a friend with, a talented author and indie publisher.
Joseph: "Hey, Eli, how are you? Long time no see."
Me: "Hey, Joseph, what's up?"
Joseph: "I need your help."
Me: "Of course! What happened?"
Joseph: "I've been contacted by a printer back in February. He offered me a price you couldn’t match."
Me: "Yes, I remember. It was below the cost, so of course I couldn’t match it."
Joseph: "Right. So I decided to save it big and print it by him. But then I discovered that the shipping cost, which seems way too high, wasn’t included in the price. And also customs clearance. And local delivery too..."
Me: "Why didn’t you read the contract, Joseph?"
Joseph: "I got used to your always giving me the final price that includes everything, so I thought it’s an industry standard and didn’t read the fine print."
Me: "How much do they want to charge you for shipping?"
Joseph: "$3000 for 4 pallets."
Me: "It’s almost three times more than I charge you! Well, I feel bad for you. But how can I help you now?"
Joseph: "Could you please ship it for me? I’m not gonna make this mistake again, will always print by you!"
What should I do? Any suggestions?
